Following delayed release times with Amazon, Adventures of Jack: Platformer was released for free on Indiedb on January 14th, 2016. It was planned for release on January 4th, 2016 but was delayed for unknown reasons. AoJP was originally planned to be $0.99 but may now be downloaded from both Indiedb and Amazon as of 1/28/2016.
Adventures of Jack: Platformer is a simple 2D side scroller in which the player is immersed into the AoJP world to squish apples and oranges alike while collecting experience to level up. The game takes place on floating islands and lacks a story.
AoJP currently features 20 levels, each with its own enemies to squish and items to collect. AoJP is the first GamersReject title to have achievements, it currently has 5. Also within the game are settings for background music and sound effects, experience levels that contribute to achievements, unlockable game levels, throwable objects, various enemies, and more!
AoJP currently has 2 different enemy types, Apples and Oranges.
Level 1 Apple
Level 1 apples have 1 health and may easily be squished by jumping on their head. They do 1 damage to the player and jump low and very slow. The level 1 apples are the most common enemy found in AoJP and they drop squished apples which may be eaten to gain 1 health.
Level 2 Apple
Level 2 apples have 1 health and may be squished in the same way as their weaker cousins, by jumping on their head. They do 2 damage to the player and jump high and fast. Level 2 apples are not very common and may be found in the later levels of AoJP, they also dropped squished apples but these ones are rotten and may not be picked up by the player.
The Orange, or Oranges, have 2 health and must be "jumped at" by the player. The Orange shoots bowling balls at a set interval at the player which will deal 1 damage each time they hit the player. These bowling balls look similar to those that may be picked up but should be avoided. When squished, The Orange will drop a squished orange which the player may pickup and use to add 1 life if the max amount of lives has not been reached.
The squished apple is dropped after the player squishes a Level 1 Apple, these are always dropped and when picked up may be used to add 1 health back to the player if max health has not been reached. The maximum amount of squished apples that may be held is 5 and this cannot be increased. Once a player has reached the maximum amount of squished apples held in the inventory no more may be picked up until one has been used. This should not be confused with the rotten squished apple which cannot be picked up.
The squished orange is dropped after the player has squished The Orange and when picked up may be used to add 1 life back to the player if the max amount of lives has not been reached. The max amount of squished oranges that may be held is 3 and cannot be increased. Squished oranges are rarely used and are quite common as The Orange is a common enemy.
The bowling ball may be picked up in random locations throughout the game in the later half of the levels. The bowling ball may be thrown at any enemy to reduce its health by 1 or squish it if its health is at 1. The max amount of bowling balls that may be held is 5 and cannot be increased. Bowling balls are uncommon and usually come in groups.
AoJP currently has 4 easy achievements.
Reach Level 10
After reaching the experience level 10 the player will receive the "Reach Level 10" achievement.
Beat the Game!
After completing all 20 levels the player will receive the "Beat the Game!" achievement.

AoJP features easy to achieve experience levels that may be maxed out by the time the game has been completed. The max level is currently 10 and the player may not level up further after it has been achieved. The player receives experience by squished both apples and oranges. Level 1 Apples give 25 experience points, Level 2 Apples give 50 experience points, and The Orange gives 100 experience points. Experience required for each level is increased as the player advances through the experience levels.
AoJP features a simple health system in which the player has 3 lives and 3 hearts, if the player should lose all 3 hearts then a life is taken and the player is sent back to the spawn point. If the player loses all 3 lives then the level is reset completely. The player may have up to 3 hearts and 3 lives only. If the player tries to consume a food item but the respective system is maxed out then the item may not be used.
AoJP features a simple inventory system which includes squished apples and oranges, and bowling balls. The player may eat squished apples by pressing 1 or squished oranges by pressing 2, and may throw bowling balls by pressing 3. After the key is pressed one item will be subtracted from the inventory unless it is a food item and the respective health system has been maxed out.
